Who we are
A2 Asesoramiento Legal e Innovación S.L.L. —known as A2 Estudio Legal— is a boutique law firm founded in 2001 in Madrid. Since then we have advised technology companies and startups on protecting their innovation, complying with European regulation and expanding into international markets.
Our office is located at María de Molina, 41, 28006 Madrid, from where we coordinate matters across Spain, the European Union, the United States and Latin America. We work in Spanish and English, with clients ranging from early-stage startups to established companies with multinational operations.
What we do
Our practice is organized into four areas of specialization that cover the full legal lifecycle of a technology company:
- Industrial and intellectual property — Strategy, registration and defense of trademarks, patents, designs and copyrights in Spain, the EU and international markets. Over 6,000 trademarks managed and 4× Top 25 EUIPO e-users Spain (2016-2025) recognition.
- AI, data and privacy regulation — AI Act and GDPR compliance, data governance, impact assessments and DPO as a Service (Data Protection Officer) for Spanish and foreign companies needing compliance in Europe.
- Startup formation and governance — Design of shareholders' agreements, equity structures, investment round preparation and governance for founders and technology teams.
- International expansion — Legal structuring of expansion into new markets, coordination with local counsel and management of cross-border assets as a single point of contact.
A boutique model
We work with a boutique model: expert leadership, our own team in Spain and an extensive international network of specialist collaborators in biotechnology, software, artificial intelligence, engineering, pharmaceuticals and regional experts in local laws and regulations. This model allows us to offer full capability in litigation, international tax and governance, while maintaining the agility and direct access to partners that characterizes A2.
